Background
The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) is an agency of the Ministry of Defence. It provides government with science and engineering-based products, services and expertise on defence and security issues.
Brief
Design three options for the Corporate Plan, ranging from ideas to fit within the existing brand guidelines, through to a more radical take that allowed us to add some creativity.
Dstl was looking for imaginative approaches in the use of visual devices, photographs and illustrations. Dstl’s key principles are focused on being ‘agile’ and ‘innovative’ and the visual style of the new Corporate Plan had to reflect these themes..
Solution
The chosen route was one of the safer options: a glossy, image-led magazine, with information grouped around several key activities and the text broken up with engaging headlines, case study boxes and relevant statistics.
I worked closely with a proof reader to manage the report through multiple revision stages using track change documents and marked up PDFs.
